03. Review

The StarVie Astrum 2026 has made it clear to us from the first rallies that we are dealing with a versatile racket, but with a strong offensive focus. It is not the typical neutral or soft racket that will give you everything, because here the feel is more on the firm and dry side. We see it designed for players with a good level who know how to hit the ball hard and enjoy feeling a more serious response in their shots. If you are looking for a comfortable, forgiving, and easy racket in any situation, this is not it.

First Impressions with the StarVie Astrum 2026

The Astrum 2026 comes with a teardrop shape, medium balance, and a weight around 360 grams, although on the court it feels somewhat heavier than we expected for that distribution. The feel is hard, dry, and quite firm, one of those that connects very well with the player who wants to feel the ball with personality. Here we already find a response that is rather medium-hard, designed for those who do not want a soft racket or an automatic ball exit. The overall sensation is of a serious model, with a clear demand from the very first moment.

In terms of construction, the combination of 12K carbon, MVA Balance rubber, and a rough surface matches what we feel while playing. It is also noticeable that StarVie has incorporated technologies aimed at improving maneuverability and reducing vibrations, such as Air Booster, Shock Shield, and Grip Z Shock. They do not turn the racket into something light or docile, but they do help the whole feel more controlled within that firm character. The textured handle at the end and the adjustable strap have pleased us, as the grip is good and that always adds up when the racket has a drier feel.

StarVie Astrum 2026 from the Back of the Court

From the back, the feeling it has left us is quite clear: it is not a clumsy racket, but neither is it one of those that gives you immediate ease as soon as you start defending. With the medium balance and that weight that feels a bit above what was expected, you need to hit the ball well for the shot to come out clean. When we play at medium or high speed, the ball exit becomes clearer and the racket responds much better. You can feel its versatile side with an offensive priority, as it appreciates being taken to a livelier ball rhythm.

On the other hand, when it comes to defending more slowly and playing with more touch, the story changes quite a bit. We have found it harder to feel the ball on slow shots, and that dry feel does not help make contact particularly comfortable. The sweet spot feels somewhat smaller than one might expect, so off-center impacts do not come off as rewarding. We do not find it to be an impossible racket, but rather one that demands skill and a good hand to truly get the most out of it.

Still, within that firm profile, we have found it more comfortable and usable than other more demanding StarVie models. This gives some leeway to advanced players who are already used to rackets with a dry response, although it does not change its character. If your game from the back is based on building calmly, cushioning, and relying heavily on touch, this is not the friendliest option. If, on the other hand, you are one of those who accelerates the ball as soon as possible to get out of defense, here we do find a more convincing response.

StarVie Astrum 2026 at the Net

With that firm feel, at the net is where the Astrum has shown us its most aggressive version. We have liked it quite a bit in volleys, especially in blocks and flat shots, because it transmits stability and allows you to hit the ball well when we put in medium or high speed. It is a racket that invites you to play direct, compact, and without too much embellishment. You can feel that the plane has rigidity and that the ball comes out with intention when we enter confidently.

Where it has worked best for us in aerial play has been in the vibora. There we have indeed noticed that we can give the ball a bit more intention and create a more incisive trajectory, especially when we accelerate the gesture. We have also liked it in the roll, as it allows you to hit the ball downwards with quite a bit of intent. In the bandeja, on the other hand, we have not felt as comfortable: the ball tends to stay a bit more on the racket and we have not gained the same advantage, especially when we were looking for a cleaner and more repeatable bandeja.

StarVie Astrum 2026 in the Smash

When we set up the shot well, the Astrum responds very well both in the flat smash and in the three-wall smash. The ball comes out with power and it is clear that this version has the resources to close the point if the technique is right. However, it is not a racket that gives you that for free: if you hit it well, it supports a lot, but if you do not have that execution, its offensive potential remains quite hidden.

Power and Control of the StarVie Astrum 2026

The StarVie Astrum 2026 operates in that realm of versatile rackets that, in reality, lean more towards attack than defense. It has power in viboras, smashes, and volleys when we increase the pace, and it also maintains a pretty good sense of stability in blocks and flat shots. The control is there, but it does not come from a soft feel or great permissiveness, but from a firm response that rewards the technical player. If we hit off-center or play too passively, the racket does not correct too much for us. That is why we find it to be a very interesting model for those who want to mix control and power, as long as they have the skill to manage that dry feel.

Sweet Spot of the StarVie Astrum 2026

Regarding the sweet spot, our feeling on the court has not been that of a particularly wide or forgiving racket. The sweet spot is easier to use than in other more demanding StarVie models, but it is still at a point where it is advisable to hit cleanly. When we hit the center, the response is solid and very stable. When we go a bit off, there is not much extra help, and that confirms again that it is a racket aimed at players with a certain level.

Maneuverability and Comfort of the StarVie Astrum 2026

The first thing we noticed was that, being a medium balance racket, it feels somewhat heavier than expected. It is not a clumsy racket, but it does not convey that instant lightness that is appreciated in defensive situations or in shots where we are pressed for time. Still, the work of Air Booster, Shock Shield, and Grip Z Shock is noticeable in the whole, especially because they help the racket feel more secure and with a more controlled sensation. The textured handle and the adjustable strap also add to it, and in our case, the grip has felt very good during play.

Quality/Price of the StarVie Astrum 2026

Based on materials, construction, and sensations on the court, the StarVie Astrum 2026 fits into an advanced range aimed at high-level players. In this segment, 12K carbon, medium-high density EVA rubber, rough surface, and proprietary technologies to fine-tune maneuverability and vibrations are expected, just the type of package that this model presents. As is often the case in the padel market, these rackets tend to decrease in price over the months, especially as the next version approaches, and that is where the best opportunities often appear in specialized stores. If you are looking for performance over easy comfort, it is a purchase that makes sense within that technical and offensive profile.

Who is the StarVie Astrum 2026 for?

We would recommend it to high-level players who enjoy a hard, dry, and firm feel. It makes a lot of sense for those looking for a versatile racket, but with a clearly offensive point, prioritizing attack over defense. It also fits better in the hands of players with good technique, capable of taking advantage of flat shots, accelerations, viboras, and smashes without needing extra help from the material. If you come from soft or very forgiving rackets, the change here is quite noticeable. And if you need a racket that gives you immediate comfort in defense or touch shots, there are more suitable profiles than this Astrum.

Pros and Cons of the StarVie Astrum 2026

  • Firm and dry feel that transmits stability in hitting.
  • Good power in smashes, viboras, and volleys at medium/high speed.
  • Rough surface useful for adding more intention to the vibora and roll.
  • Technologies like Air Booster, Shock Shield, and Grip Z Shock help the whole.
  • Textured handle and adjustable strap that improve grip.
  • More comfortable and usable than other more demanding StarVie models.
  • Very valid for being aggressive near the net with blocks and flat shots.
  • Not especially forgiving with off-center impacts.
  • Feels somewhat heavier than expected for its medium balance.
  • We have not found it as comfortable or easy to repeat in the bandeja.
  • Does not provide ease in defense at low speeds.
  • Requires technique to extract all its offensive potential.
  • In slow defense, it is harder to feel the ball and play comfortably.

The StarVie Astrum 2026 is a racket for technical players who want to hit, press, and command rather than rely on an easy ball exit. We have particularly liked it when we take it to an aggressive game, with rhythm and decisiveness, especially at the net and in finishing shots. If that is your style and you feel comfortable with a firm feel, it makes a lot of sense. If you are looking for constant help, a soft feel, and easier defense, it is better to look for another profile.
