03. Review

The Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026 has struck us as a paddle with a very distinct personality from the first exchanges: dry feel, medium hardness, and a clearly offensive response. It is a paddle that can be very offensive, but it does not follow the typical path of other hard options from the brand, as here the maneuverability is better resolved. In fact, when you pick up the paddle for the first time, the balance feels higher than it ultimately is on the court. We see it as very well suited for intermediate and advanced players looking for power with a quick head and who accept a more technical sweet spot.

First Impressions with the Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026

The construction already makes it clear where this version is headed: GES hexagonal carbon, Medium Plus rubber, a 30 mm profile instead of the usual 38 mm, power ribs in three areas of the frame, and a sandy rough finish on the faces. All of this translates into a medium-hard feel leaning towards dry, quite firm upon impact, with a more technical sensation than a more classic Oxdog. The balance data is also noteworthy: stock, with the cap on, it is at 26.1 cm, and without the cap, it rises to 26.5-26.6 cm. On paper, it might seem like a more demanding head, but in play, it does not feel as high as the first impression suggests.

What caught our attention the most in the first sessions was precisely that it seems more head-heavy in hand than it feels when moving it. In fast balls and direction changes, the paddle moves more freely than expected, and there the thinner profile is truly noticeable. It also left us with very good sensations in terms of comfort because it is a paddle that does not vibrate, something that fits well with the work of the power ribs in the frame. However, it is not a version to just jump in and play like with other Ultimate Pros, as it forced us to adapt to a striking zone that is somewhat lower than usual.

Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026 from the Back of the Court

From the back, the general feeling does not change much in normal strokes like a forehand or backhand from the baseline compared to an Ultimate Pro or a Hyper Pro Plus. Where we do find a difference is in those actions where we arrive a bit forced and have to move the paddle faster, because here it helps a bit more than other Oxdogs. The 30 mm profile makes the head activate sooner and the paddle becomes more reactive. It is not a radical change in all shots, but it is noticeable in quick defense.

The key detail lies in the sweet spot. It has a standard-sized sweet spot, but it is lower than in other Ultimate Pros, and that significantly modifies the way to take advantage of the ball’s exit. We had better sensations hitting in the middle zone and even a bit lower on the face, because there the ball comes out more easily and with a livelier bounce. Conversely, if we hit high, the response becomes much drier and the ball tends to fall short.

In defense, we were pleasantly surprised because, within this medium-hardness and dry feel, the ball exit is better than we expected. At medium or low pace, we found it to be the Oxdog with the best ball exit within this hardness, as long as we connect with that central zone that really works better. This means we do not have to push too much to give depth and we can add weight to the ball quite comfortably. In that context, transitioning from defense to counterattack is easier than with other versions of the brand.

There is also an important reading here: it is not a clumsy or complicated paddle from the back, but it is more technical at the point of impact. When we get used to not looking so high for the head and entering more through the center, the paddle changes quite a bit and starts to return much more than it seems at first. That adaptation is what separates a correct feeling from a truly good feeling with this model. If we make that adjustment, defense gains a lot.

Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026 at the Net

At the net is where we saw the improvement of this Pro Smash compared to other Oxdogs of similar hardness most clearly. In volleys and trays, we felt it faster and more maneuverable than the Ultimate Pro Plus, and that feeling of accelerating the gesture a bit more appears from day one. The ball travels faster with the same force, even more than with the Ultimate Pro Plus, so the paddle has a very serious offensive point up high. However, the same condition reappears: we need to look for that central zone and not so much the upper part of the face.

When we hit well in the center, the ball comes out a lot and the greater bounce helps both in blocks and in firm volleys where we barely assist. In volley clashes and direction changes, we did not feel it slow, and that is commendable in a unit of 375 g that does not behave like a heavy paddle on the court. The sandy rough finish also adds to the net, especially in cut volleys and in the volley, because the ball grips well and allows us to impart that spin more easily. If we get used to touching in front and pulling the gesture slightly downwards, it becomes a very aggressive paddle up high.

However, not everything is automatic. The sensations change quite a bit depending on where we impact, and in trays or volleys, that is very noticeable: if we arrive forced and hit high, the response is drier and the ball falls short. For that reason, we found it to be a somewhat more technical paddle than other versions in that segment of the game. Still, once we find the groove, we think it is one of the most offensive paddles from the brand without requiring extremely high technique to start benefiting from it.

Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026 in the Smash

In the smash, it left us with very good sensations, especially in the three. The gesture comes out quickly, naturally, and the paddle supports the acceleration well from above, something we directly relate to that thinner profile and the bounce that appears when we hit in the central zone. That is where it really generates easy power, and a player who hits reasonably well will notice that the ball comes out with a lot of joy. Additionally, the sandy roughness helps lifted smashes have more bite and the ball rises better after the bounce.

The less friendly part is again the same: if we hit too high in a flat smash or do not connect cleanly, the paddle does not help as much and it is easier to leave some balls short. This happened to us especially in those smashes where you arrive a bit poorly positioned or want to force the speed too much. It is not a model that gives away power at any point on the face, but when we enter the good zone, it responds with a lot of force. For that reason, we see it as a powerful smashing paddle, although it requires adaptation to truly take advantage of it.

Power and Control of the Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026

The balance of this Oxdog is quite well resolved if we understand how to hit it. It is a paddle that can be very offensive and combines high power with solid control when we work in the central zone of the face. At that point, the ball shoots out with a greater rebound effect than in other versions from the brand, and that is why the ball speed is so good without having to load the arm too much. Compared to the Ultimate Pro Plus, we noticed that the ball travels faster with the same force.

The control, for its part, impressed us a lot at medium and low-medium paces. There, the paddle maintains direction well, allows for confident play, and also helps in blocks or in firm balls where we only put the face, because the central rebound already provides depth. When we increase the pace a lot, the story changes a bit: we have to push more to keep the ball with intention and not let the reactivity play against us. It is not an uncontrolled paddle, but it is a lively paddle.

The key is that control does not depend only on the dry feel but also on the precision with which we enter the ball. If we hit off-center high, the response becomes drier and shorter, and there we lose both ball exit and confidence. Conversely, when we connect in the center and adjust the gesture well, we have a very interesting combination of easy power, good depth, and sufficient control to play strong. We see it especially well for those who want an offensive boost without going for a paddle that is much more physically demanding.

Sweet Spot of the Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026

The sweet spot of this version is standard in size, but its location changes the game quite a bit. It is lower and more centered than in other Ultimate Pros and also lower than in the Ultimate Pro Plus, which usually has that good zone higher on the face. Here we had better sensations hitting in the middle part or even a bit below, because that is where the best ball exit appears. That detail explains a large part of the adaptation that this paddle requires.

If we come from a model with a high sweet spot, the first days we may notice somewhat changing responses. When we hit high, the ball comes out drier and falls quite short, while in the central zone, the paddle gives rebound and depth quite easily. It is not a small sweet spot, but it is more technical in placement. Once we understand that, the paddle becomes much more rewarding.

Maneuverability and Comfort of the Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026

The best thing about this Oxdog in hand is that the 30 mm profile really makes a difference in maneuverability. Although the unit we tested was 375 g, on the court it did not feel heavy or particularly demanding, and that speaks very well of how the whole is distributed. Additionally, the balance seems higher when picking it up, but then while playing, it moves better than expected and does not penalize in quick exchanges. Up high, in fact, we felt it more agile than the Ultimate Pro Plus.

In terms of comfort, it also left us with a very clean impression. The power ribs in three areas of the frame do their job and the paddle does not vibrate, something that is noticeable both in volleys and in drier impacts. The grip, slightly longer than a standard one, also helps make the grip comfortable. Between the frame, the thin profile, and that absence of vibrations, it is a firm paddle but pleasant to move.

Quality/Price of the Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026

Its official retail price is €329, although at the time of writing this review, we found it for €289.52 in specialized stores. By price, it falls squarely into the professional/top range, so here it is logical to expect advanced materials, brand-specific technologies, and performance clearly oriented towards the demanding player. In this case, the investment makes sense if we are looking for medium-hardness, dry feel, and better maneuverability than in other offensive-cut Oxdogs. Additionally, as is common with this type of model, the price is likely to drop over the months and, when the next version approaches, it could become an even more attractive purchase within its segment.

Who is the Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026 for?

We recommend it mainly for intermediate and advanced players who want an offensive paddle, with a dry feel and medium hardness, but without going for a physically heavy option. It also fits very well with those looking for more maneuverability than in other paddles from the brand and appreciate a good ball exit without having to accelerate too much. It is especially interesting for players who do not generate a lot of speed on their own and want real help in the exit when they connect well. However, one must accept that the sweet spot is more centered and lower.

If someone prefers a more traditional high sweet spot or does not want to go through that small adaptation period in volleys, trays, and smashes, they may not feel comfortable from day one. We also do not see it as the best choice for those looking for a homogeneous response across the entire face without depending so much on the impact zone. Conversely, for the player who quickly understands where the good zone is, this version has much competitive sense. That is where it shows all its potential.

Pros and Cons of the Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026

  • Better maneuverability in quick situations thanks to the thinner 30 mm profile.
  • Very good ball exit when we hit in the central zone.
  • Lively reaction and good rebound effect for a medium-hardness paddle.
  • High power in smashes and offensive shots without feeling clumsy up high.
  • Does not vibrate and moves better than its weight suggests.
  • Sandy roughness useful for volleys and spin smashes.
  • Lower and centered sweet spot that requires adaptation.
  • Sensations change quite a bit depending on the hitting zone.
  • In high impacts, the ball comes out drier and falls short.
  • At fast pace, we have to push more to maintain control.
  • In volleys, trays, and flat smashes, it is somewhat more technical than other versions.

The Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2026 seems to us to be a very interesting paddle within the brand because it mixes power, dry feel, and superior maneuverability to what we usually find in this profile. It is not the most intuitive due to the placement of the sweet spot, but when we adapt to hitting more through the center, it returns a lot: ball exit, speed up high, and a very aggressive net game. If that adjustment does not scare us, it is one of the most offensive Oxdogs we have tested.
