The Babolat Viper Juan Lebrón 2025 catches the eye from the very first moment. It is the signature model of Juan Lebrón, “the wolf”, and that personalization is very noticeable as the logo appears all over the paddle, giving it a visually attractive touch. Beyond aesthetics, we are talking about a version clearly designed for advanced level offensive players who want aggression and weight in the ball. If your game is forward and you are looking for a paddle that pushes offensive play, this one fits very well.
By construction, this Babolat makes its intention clear from the technical specifications and from the hand: diamond shape, high balance, weight around 370 grams, and a hard feel. We found it to be a robust paddle, with a firm touch and a stiffness in the plane that directly points to power. The hole system also aligns with this, as it is very focused on generating a more aggressive behavior in the hit. It is not a neutral paddle nor one of those that tries to please everyone.
What caught our attention the most when picking it up was that it feels heavy and somewhat head-heavy, although that sensation varies depending on the hit. Babolat has here a larger heart, in a line that recalls the 2019 model, and that translates into a somewhat different feel compared to other Vipers with a smaller heart. On paper, it aims to improve maneuverability and aerodynamics, and in aerial play, we do notice that this design makes sense. Still, the personality of the paddle remains very marked and quite demanding.
There are also usage details that make this version have a special point. The handle felt rather small, something that may not suit everyone, especially if they come from thicker grips. On the other hand, the removable strap is very well designed: it comes with additional straps and a comfortable adjustment system that is appreciated when we play several matches in a row. These are small details, but in a paddle of this level, they add quite a bit.
From the back is where it is most noticeable that we are dealing with an attacking paddle. The sensation of head-heavy and weight up makes defending not so easy, especially when we are pressured and need to react quickly. It is not the typical paddle that corrects you on its own nor one that gets you out of any trouble with a short gesture. Here you have to get involved, position yourself well, and approach the hit with intention.
When the ball comes with high speed, the response improves significantly, and there we do see a more rewarding ball exit. However, with medium or low rhythm, we had to make a longer gesture to send the ball deep, because the paddle does not help as much if we play relaxed or late. Moreover, the sweet spot is not particularly wide, and that is noticeable as soon as we hit something off-center. Off-center impacts are penalized more than we would like in a defensive situation.
Even so, not everything is suffering from the back. When we manage to transition from a containment ball to a more aggressive response, the paddle changes its face and starts to perform much better. In blocks and balls where we just want to place the ball, we found it relatively easy to send it to the back of the court. And if we are looking to accelerate or counterattack, that ball exit and hard feel start to play in our favor.
Interestingly, even starting from rear positions, where we felt most comfortable was in transitions to aerial play. As soon as we moved up and started playing more from above, the paddle makes more sense, especially in vibra and roll. There, the rough 3D Spin is noticeable, helping the ball grip better when we seek to impart spin. The tray was not the shot where it shone the most for us, but in more aggressive overhead shots, the paddle moves really well. It is clear that the diamond shape, high balance, and hole system aimed at power are designed for another battle.
At the net is where this paddle truly shows its best cards. Volleys come out with a quick and quite deep response, and in blocks, we found it easy to send the ball to the back without having to force too much. When we press with an aggressive volley, the ball comes off very well, and the overall feeling is of a truly offensive paddle. The high balance here does add up, as it helps load the hit and allows the ball to come out with more intention.
Where we felt most comfortable was in aerial play, especially in vibra and roll. The rough 3D Spin is noticeable, as the ball grips well and allowed us to generate spin and speed without having to accelerate the arm too much. We also saw that extra bite in cut volleys. This combination of hard feel, diamond shape, and rough surface makes the vibra come out with a lot of bad intentions. In the tray, we were less convinced, but in quick and aggressive overhead shots, the paddle moves excellently.
Compared to more balanced models, this Babolat clearly feels more focused on the smash and the definitive hit. The forward smash comes out with a lot of intention and makes it clear that we are dealing with a pure power paddle. In the three, the combination of diamond shape, high balance, and aggressive construction helps a lot, as long as we have the technique to execute the gesture well. It is not a paddle that gives away the smash to anyone, but in the hands of an advanced player, it does set up many things. Moreover, when we seek to impart a bit more spin on these types of shots, the rough surface provides that extra grip that fits very well with its offensive profile.
The overall feeling it left us is very clear: power prevails over control. The hole system is designed for that, and on the court, it shows because the ball comes out quickly and does not require much acceleration to generate speed and weight. It reacts best with high rhythm and when we get the most out of it, especially in offensive shots and spin balls. If your main goal is to have more control, maneuverability, or a softer response, this is not the way to go.
Regarding what many expect from an offensive paddle of this type, the sweet spot is not very wide and punishes quite a bit when we do not hit in the center. The larger heart, in a line that recalls the 2019 model, tries to give a bit more maneuverability to the set, but does not change its demanding nature.
Maneuverability is not its strong point because it feels heavy, and that sensation appears especially in defense. On top of that, we have a small handle that may fit very well for some players, but may leave others with a less comfortable grip than expected.
Its official retail price is €380, although at the time of writing this review, we found it for €307.8 in specialized stores. It falls into the professional/top range, so we are talking about a serious investment for advanced players looking for offensive performance, materials, and technologies typical of a signature model; moreover, as is often the case in this segment, it is normal for the price to decrease over the months and that, as the next version approaches, this season could become an even more interesting purchase.
We see it very clearly for an aggressive player, at least advanced level, who enjoys going forward and wants a paddle that helps load offensive play. If you like to press at the net, play vibra, rolls, and smash with intention, this Babolat makes a lot of sense. On the other hand, if you are looking for control, maneuverability, or an easy adaptation, there are more logical options. We also do not think it is a good choice for inexperienced players or for those coming from round paddles who want something easy from day one.
The Babolat Viper Juan Lebrón 2025 is a paddle with a lot of personality: hard, offensive, demanding, and very much designed for attacking. If you have the level, enjoy playing from above, and want an aggressive paddle that rewards initiative, we think it is a very serious choice. If your game is more about building the point with control or defending easily, it is better to look towards another profile. Here the reward comes when we step in to take charge.
